Ashura Michael is a Kenyan lawyer and public policy advocate advancing disability rights, gender inclusion, and equitable participation in economic and civic spaces. As Disability Inclusion Lead at UNDP Kenya, she works to dismantle barriers to economic and digital participation for persons with disabilities while strengthening inclusive policy frameworks. A former deaf Speaker of the East African Youth Legislative Assembly, she has held leadership roles across regional and global initiatives, including the Youth Council of UNICEF’s Global Partnership on Children with Disabilities and the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance Kenya Chapter. Through her advocacy, leadership, and representation at international forums such as the United Nations General Assembly, Ashura continues to expand visibility, representation, and opportunity for persons with disabilities across governance, development, and economic systems.
