Finance is power. And in Kenya, women are wielding that power in remarkable ways—steering investments, shaping policy, building fintech solutions, and redefining banking. Yet, too often, their influence goes unnoticed. That’s why this inaugural edition of The Movers’ Society Magazine is so close to my heart.

As we mark International Women’s Day 2025 under the theme Accelerate Action, I find myself reflecting on the women who aren’t just participating in Kenya’s financial sector but are actively building it. Women I deeply admire, follow, and have had the privilege of engaging with. Women like Joyce-Ann Wainaina, whose work at Chui Ventures is directing crucial funding toward gender-inclusive solutions across Africa. Or Esther Waititu, who is leading M-PESA, Africa’s most advanced mobile money platform, to empower millions.

Their stories aren’t just inspiring. They’re a call to action. A reminder that when women move money, they move economies, industries, and entire generations forward. They are the architects of financial inclusion, the investors backing visionary startups, the policymakers crafting the frameworks that impact millions. And they are living proof that experience, resilience, and strategic vision matter more than outdated biases.

This edition is just the beginning. It’s a celebration of the women shaping Kenya’s financial future—women making the decisions that drive businesses, create jobs, and unlock wealth. Their journeys inspire. Their strategies transform. Their impact is undeniable.

So as we launch The Movers’ Society Magazine, I invite you to do more than just read. Let’s recognize, amplify, and support these women. Let’s follow their work, engage with their ideas, and champion their efforts. Because when women move money, they move the world—and together, we can accelerate action toward true gender equality.
